This show was unlike any other. It was devised and shown by a handful of Avila University theatre students during the Covid-19 Pandemic. On top of sound designing, Eli was also given the great responsibility of being the dramaturg. For their research, Eli pieced together a timeline of events from the year to act as fodder for the writing team while also contributing to the writing themself. The show was entirely done through Zoom. For sound, Eli primarily focused on the effects that could still be added through Zoom. This includes what became the musical theme of the show, a rendition of the hymn It Is Well, played on the piano by Eli's mother while being recorded by Eli. There was also a protest/riot scene in the show. Select sound effects from this scene can be found above. As a part of comic relief in the show, there was a 2020 Cats parody, which was prerecorded then added through Zoom, a sample of which can be found above. As Dramaturg, I worked in conjunction with Hannah Zimmerman, a digital media designer for the show, to build a timeline of the year as told by the news.
